Card Making & Coloring...

I got a chance to play a little in my office yesterday.  Thought I'd share them here.

I created 3 different cards yesterday.  A thank you to one of my derby sisters and a set of cards that's a little harder.  We found out last weekend that a high school friend of our son who is also a neighbor was in a car accident.  This young lady broke her back and is still in the hospital.  I can't even imagine what her parents are going thru.  And though we don't know them all that well I wanted to offer our support.  I'll get these signed by Mel this evening and go leave them on the porch.

Here's the one for her folks.
Supplies: Patterned Paper - Basic Grey, Stamps - PTI, Die Cut - PTI, Coloring Medium - Copic (inspiration and coloring  from Debbie Olson)
I didn't want to include any kind of get well type sentiment on Miranda's card.  With not knowing her condition or the prognosis it just didn't feel appropriate.  And I wanted it to be bright and happy.
Supplies: Patterned Paper, Stamps, Die Cuts - PTI, Ink - Paper Co, Button & Floss - unkn, Glitter Pen - Spica
I also created this to work for one of the recent Papertrey Playhouse challenge.
And finally the thank you for my derby sister.  I tried to color it as much like her as I could.  I even included homage to both of the derby teams she plays on - the Bad News Beaters & the Tent City Terrors.  I hope she enjoys it.
Supplies: Patterned Paper - HGD, unkn, Coloring Medium - Copic,  Stamp - American Art Stamps

That's if for now.  Still trying to get pics of the layouts I did for the upcoming class at Paper Vineyard.  Look for them as soon as I can.

Have a beautiful day.

Occasional Artist May Copic Projects

Note to self: don't try to do anything to the blog on the iPad.

I had this post all ready to go.  Witty text, cute card photo (ok, so it was a scan. don't be so picky), links and all.  And then I tried to see if it had posted when I woke up using the iPad.  Since it hadn't posted I went to the dashboard and went thru the motions to get it live.  And POOF! it was gone.  *sigh*

So here's my second try.

After the positive responses I got from the ladies at the April class I decided to go with the images we talked about.  Here's one of them.

I just think this little image is happy.  And we'll start coloring it by using one of my favorite Copic techniques, airbrushing.  You can find all the details on this card and our second card on the Class Projects tab.  Hope to see you in class!

Scrapbook Barn Copic Projects for May

I've done a little adjusting to the May projects from when I shared them in April's class.  And I must say I'm really pleased with them.  Here's one of them.
I'll be contemplating how to add a bloom or two to this little cutie so expect to have a few more pieces in your kit and the finished project to look a little different from this sample.

Check out the other two samples on the Class Projects tab.

What a weekend!!

No wonder I needed a nap today!  We've been busy and on the go since Thursday night.  Of course a lot of that is due to having Kaytey here.  And neither of us are used to keeping up with a 4 year old!!  Add to that it was my brilliant idea to do pancakes for dinner Thursday night.  How do I not remember that pancakes take syrup?  And that syrup has sugar, lots of sugar! in it??!  Aunt Krista had to make a pancake just for her.  :)

Friday was filled up with cooking and party prep.  Paste Eaters on Friday night was a blast.  Lots of giggling and even some creativity getting accomplished.  I won the blog comment war however.  Benefit of hosting the party perhaps.

Saturday bright and early I had class at The Occasional
Artist.  If you still haven't gone to check it out you are seriously missing out. Such an amazing little place with so much creativity packed into it.  I'll have the April Copic class samples up in the store on Tuesday.

Saturday evening was all about the fights.  UFC that is.  Mel took care of the seating set ups and I was in charge of food.  Let's just say no one could possibly have left hungry.  A nacho bar, hot dogs, chili, chips & dips galore, veggies and lots more.  I'll be snacking for the next week at least.

A drive to breakfast in the fast car Sunday morning and dropping the rug rat off.  Now that my nap is done I'll be coloring and crafting (Mel has a 2 hour gig this evening).  Look for posts with class samples for Scrapbook Barn & Occasional Artist this evening.  And perhaps samples for a Scrapbooking With.... class out at Paper Vineyard.  I'm really liking them.  I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed creating layouts until I started playing with these samples!

Papertrey Playhouse Mixed Sets Challenge!

Slowly but surely I'm trying to get back to crafting and creating.  One of the ways I'm trying to do that is by participating in more challenges.  There are several over at the Playhouse I'm looking to create for.  This first one is the Mixed Sets challenge.  I love the idea of mixing stamp sets to get more creative options.  I also grabbed my 365 Days A Year perpetual calendar to see what special days were coming up in my family.
I hope my Grandma Jean will like this one.  I'm sure it'll be a shock since I can't remember ever sending her a birthday card in the past.  That perpetual calendar is already coming in handy!

This one was quick once I decided what I wanted to do.  I love the Framed set for so many things.  One of the little houses from Love Lives Here fit perfectly in the opening.  I used the little grass and flower images to add to the scene.  An embossed cloud and sentiment from Birthday Bash finished it off.

I hope to make cards to post for the Stamp on Patterns challenge and the All About Babiess challenge too.  I hope you'll join us and create and post to the challenges.

Have a great day!
